Last month several members of the Seattle music community signed a letter in support of Chris Hansen’s new proposal for Key Arena. Artist Home owners Kevin Sur and Phil O’Sullivan were included in the list of signatures.
We feel it is important to state that we did not sign this letter or express interest in using our voice to support this effort. The letter included our names without our consent. After meeting with the organizer of this effort we were sent a draft of the letter. We did not respond to the draft and we did not offer to co-sign it. The organizer of this effort made a mistake. We’re members of this community, and when we speak up on its behalf we try to be thoughtful and intentional.
Our mission is to support artists and our community. We don’t feel that this issue is anywhere near the most critical issue facing Seattle artists and opted not to participate in the conversation in this way.
